It is a HUGE piece of liturgical fabric in almost pristine condition, never been used and vintage in age, probably coming from a religious supply company in the 1950s probably for use in making vestments, frontals, etc. The fabric is silk damask in repeating patterns of the Crucifixion Holy Rood (Virgin Mary and the Apostle John on either side of the Crucifix) and Adoring Angels before the Monstrance and Host, in striking silver against black. The reverse pattern is almost as beautiful- in contrasting black against silver. This fabric was made before the modernizing Council of Vatican II in the 1960s, when black was still a liturgical color for funeral masses and other ceremony, and fabric of this size, coloration and quality is now becoming quite collectible. It is a single piece, 63 wide and 6.11 yards! In length, donated to a religious community in my area many years ago for resale in their charitable works. The item "Liturgical Fabric Silver/Black Silk Damask Crucifixion Adoring Angels 6.11 Yards" is in sale since Saturday, February 11, 2017.
